Several friends of mine and my husband are retiring this year, so I used an “oh so true” Crackerbox Palace sentiment stamp to design two very different retirement cards. On the day I designed my first card, I was tired and so I did take a nap. I can do that just about any day if I want and do not miss the “crap” at work at all! I am still having fun designing with the feather dies from Lifestyle Crafts, the Clear View Transparencies from The Mark-It Place and the awesome stamps from Crackerbox Palace. I used the negative space from the larger feather die to show a serene black and white scene and added some other die cut pieces cut from dp with writing on it. I split the stamp with part on the front and the rest in the inside as shown here.

My second card features a totally different type of fisherman from Crackerbox Palace. He sure looks like he is having fun! I paper pieced his outfit and boat and colored the rest with Copics. I used Nestabilities dies to cut out frames for him and the sentiments and embossed the front of the card with a Tim Holtz embossing folder.

But first- the winner of last Thursday’s blog candy is Holly Hughes.

Here is her winning comment from my blog: "I love the horse card! This is so pretty! I can't wait to show your card to my daughter. THANKS so much for sharing!!"

Holly, please email Karen or Crackerbox Palace your address and your choice of which stamps you want (see your options below), so we can get you the stamps you have won.
We hope you also want to 'follow' the blogs.

April Showers is the first card I want to share with you.
Here in WI. we have been under a rain cloud for over a week. We should have a lot of beautiful May flowers!
I stamped her on X-Press card stock and colored the image with Copic markers.
I cut out the frame with Spellbinders. I wanted to make it shinny or wet looking so I cut a piece of acetate in the same shape of the frame and put it over top.
I remember the rain boots I had when I was young were really shinny, and the hats were too ( I didn't have a hat ) so I put clear lacquer over the hat and boots. There is a small reflection of the flash on top of the hat.
I used Stickles over the rain drops.

Second card is Birdy Birthday. I went to the Madison Mingle and we shared some of our birds with the girls there so I thought I would put up an idea with one of the birds.
I used our branch and bird and colored them with Copic markers.
I cut out the folded frame for the words from Spellbinders.
The inside of the folded card.

More Guy's Cards and Blog Candy To Win!

Karen here today and I am sharing two guy’s cards I made with Crackerbox Palace stamps. You can win your choice of the stamps featured on one of these cards by leaving a comment at either blog. The simple requirements for a chance at winning are below and now you have even more choices of what you can win!
But first- the winner of last Thursday’s blog candy is Trena!
Here is her winning comment from the CBP blog: Vicky, I dig both of these! I love, love, love the seascape one! Your water and coloring are perfect! Take care and STAY POSITIVE!
Trena, please email me or Crackerbox Palace your address and your choice of which stamps you want (see your options below), so we can get you the stamps you have won.
I had so much fun designing my cards for today’s blog post. I know Vicky showed guy’s cards last week too, but we can never have enough ideas for the guys, right? I love the layout of my first card (above) and when I found it on Pinterest, I clicked on the link and it brought me to this blog post which not only had two neat cards using the sketch, but also all the sizes of the pieces! So much easier to make the card not having to figure out what sizes work for an A2 card! I cut the pieces, rounded half the corners and sponged the edges, and layered on another piece of masculine dp. Then I stamped the keys, glasses and pocket knife on kraft paper, cut out and attached with mounting tape to raise. Of course the Happy Birthday is from Crackerbox Palace too.

My second card features a fun tearing technique I learned at a recent gathering of stampers I attended. It never occurred to me to tear down the center of a piece of cardstock, then roll up the center piece and attach. I sponged the edges of that piece and added some barbed wire corners. I used direct to paper with rust and yellow ink pads to create a sunset, then stamped the cowboy and his horse silhouette. Those pieces were layered on black and then on a kraft card base.  I just love how it turned out.

For The Guys Blog Candy

Vicky here today and I am sharing two cards I made with Crackerbox Palace stamps.  You can win your choice of the stamps featured on one of these cards

OR Vicky will email you a coupon code so you can go shopping at

The simple requirements for a chance at winning are below and now you have even more choices of what you can win!
But first- the winner of last Thursday’s blog candy is Pat Moore.
Here is her winning comment from my blog: “LOL Love the nutritional card. Of course that cow is adorable. I have her." Pat, please email Karen or Crackerbox Palace your address and your choice of which stamps you want (see your options below), so we can get you the stamps you have won.
We hope you also want to 'follow' the blogs.
This card is done with our Seascape stamp. I colored it with Copic markers.

The compass was stamped and I used Spellbinder die. I sponged brown ink around the edges. I didn't put any clear lacquer over the compass face because I was afraid when I took the picture it would make a glare. I did add it after the picture was taken.

The second card was more of our stamps.
The paper is from Club Scrap.
I just stamped some of our stamps with StazaOn Sepia and black ink.
I cut the Memories out with a Spellbinder and before I took the die off, I sponged Memories Sky blue. I added a brown ribbon. I asked John if that was ok for a guy and he said "sure, it's brown and it's not a bow", so I guess I am ok.

Window View

Happy April Fools Day!
It's April Fools day today and I haven't thought of pulling anything today.
I wanted to share with you a card that I did at Madison Mingle last weekend. I did change it a bit. I made it an inside window and used paper that looked like wallpaper and drew a floor then added our dog.
The window is Spellbider (I think, it was already cut out) and she had a Stampscapes stamp to use for the scene out the window.
This is the open window so you can see the Stampscapes.

Thanks for stopping by, Vicky
